Brooklyn-based music platform Baeble Music run through their most popular videos of January 2018, from interviews and live sessions with Andreas Moe, Moon Taxi, Izzy Bizu, CHVRCHΞS and more.
1. Andreas Moe Live At The Thrillist Holiday Hideaway
If you’re still harboring the post-holiday blues this late into January, then we’ve got just the thing to cheer you up. Swedish-Danish singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Andreas Moe brought his acoustic guitar to Thrillist Holiday Hideaway last month and we’ve got the entire performance, plus an interview at Baeble HQ. It’s a stripped-back session – just Andreas, his guitar, and some festive revelers – but his easy charm shines through for a great little show. [READ MORE]
2. A Baeble NEXT Session With Grace Mitchell
Mitchell recently stopped by the Baeble Studio for a session where she performed her songs “Capital Letters,” “Come Back For You,” “Now,” and “NoLo.” A true genre-bender at heart, her indie rock-pop songs have R&B influences, and some songs are even straight up Nirvana-inspired rock — i.e. “Kids (Ain’t All Right).” [READ MORE]
3. A Baeble NEXT Session With English Songstress Izzy Bizu
English singer-songwriter Izzy Bizu has made waves and a reputation for herself around the globe, supporting acts such as Coldplay, Sam Smith and Foxes, but you’re playing yourself if you only think of her as an opener for big name shows. Bizu’s songwriting and particularly bombastic vocal range are enough to sell out shows on their own, and she has the skills and presence to rival any artist you can think of. [READ MORE]
4. Animal Years Live At The Thrillist Holiday Hideaway
The Brooklyn based trio weren’t messing around when it came to record their most recent EP, enlisting Ryan Hadlock (Vance Joy, The Lumineers) to man the board for the foot-stomping brand of folk-rock that inhabits Far From Home. Recently we helped host the band at Thrillist’s Holiday Hideaway, right here at good ole, Industry City. [READ MORE]
5. A Baeble Session With Moon Taxi
Though Nashville indie-alt rockers Moon Taxi are used to rocking big bills and festival stages, making the rounds on the late-night circuit with the likes of Conan, Letterman, and Seth Myers, we were recently struck by both their humility and just how well their slick, upbeat, and infectious sound translates in the intimate environment of the Baeble Studio. 6. Chvrches Live A Central Park’s Summer Stage
In addition to producing a full concert film (which we’ll be bringing to you sometime in March), we also set out to go behind the scenes of this magnificent moment for the band. Sitting down with Lauren, Iain, and Martin shortly before their sound check, we chatted about a variety of topics, including what playing such a historical venue feels like, what they hope their fans get out of Every Open Eye, and probably most interestingly, the extremely close and very deliberate relationship they share with their fans. Interviews:
1. How Would You Survive A Zombie Apocalypse
It’s a question everyone has thought about…especially in the wake of shows like The Walking Dead. “How would you survive a zombie apocalypse?” We decided to put it to a number of our favorite artists, from Franz Ferdinand to Moon Taxi. And the results? Well, turns out they have a lot more access to guns then we would have originally thought.
2. An Exclusive Interview With “Best Friend” Singers, Sofi Tukker
We sat down with jungle-pop duo, SOFI TUKKER, to discuss their ever-growing fame, their unique, worldly sound, and what’s to come. Sofi Tukker (often styled as SOFI TUKKER) is a New York-based musical duo consisting of Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern. They’re described as “an insatiable dance collection of jungle-pop songs with many well-executed nods towards Brazilian instruments, poets and to the national language, Portuguese”. The magazine’s review referred to the “carefully conceptualized Matadora” as the albums show-stopper”.
